Beaches

Cabo Rojo enjoys the longest stretch of stunning coastlines in Puerto Rico and is a must-visit for beach lovers. It’s beaches are beautiful, waters are calm and nearby are the best long stretches of eMTB trails on the island.

Near a few of the most magnificent beaches is Puerto Rico eMTB Adventure’s main location We hope that you enjoy this guide as much as we have enjoyed these beaches thru the years.

Boquerón Bay Beach

Boquerón Beach is one of the most beautiful and favorite beaches in Puerto Rico, riding eMTB or not, this wide bay with calm blue waters is a great place to relax and enjoy The Caribbean sun. Within walking distance Boqueron Village has bars, restaurants and shops, It’s a destination appropriate for the lazy rest day after an exciting eMTB session.

Los Pozos

Your potential first reward for mastering Monte Carlo. Fast and very fun single tracks. To reach Los Pozos Beach you need a 4 x 4, ATV, motocross bike or a MTB. It is also a popular camping destination. Via boat is also a way to reach this shallow beach with views to Boquerón.

You’ll be tempted to jump in to cool down.

The Los Pozos Beach eMTB route challenge is a good barometer to reflect on the eMTB skills gained and your fitness level. If you’re up to it from here you may choose nimble double track paths or a more challenging mix of fast single tracks, up hills and double wide paths.

Playa El Combate

After your excursion thru the Boquerón Natural Reserve, and either Los Pozos Beach route or thru several of the many trail options in between, you reach El Combate. A quiet and mostly vacant neighborhood in the off season and weekdays, but a busy beach and boating community on weekends.

Its sandy beaches are gorgeous, it’s beautiful and tranquil waters is what make it one of the preferred small boat destinations on the island.

El Combate village is one of the favorite “pit stop” to rest a bit, grab a cool drink and something to eat.

Many riders opt to turn back at this point, others will venture further South towards the Playa Sucia and the Los Morrillos Lighthouse adventure challenge.

Playuela aka. Playa Sucia

Along Combate Beach, you will encounter a nice curvy and fast single track chase passing thru the Wildlife refuge with its observation tower and the Salt Flats. This eMTB destination is a combo with trails that lead to Los Morrillos Lighthouse and Puente de Piedra nearby.

A beautiful half circle cove, this quiet, semi-secluded beach is a great spot to cool off after reaching the far end of your pedaling and turning back point for many riders.

For many reaching Playa Sucia is the pinnacle and favorite spot of their vacation in Puerto Rico.

Buyé Beach

Unassuming, charming, calm, crystal clear, dotted with reef and sea life, off the path and very beautiful. Most days it is a perfect beach to relax and have a serene few hours or day. We recommend you visit this beach preferably weekdays as this beach has little parking and is very popular on weekends.

With well maintained trails, it is a mellow, yet very satisfying eMTB ride from the Boquerón Village, thru the Punta Guaniquilla Natural Reserve with amazing nature views. It’s flora is significantly different from the Cabo Rojo Natural Wildlife Refuge with a more lush tropical vegetation, some visitors describe some of its rocky formations as the remnants of broken fossilized tree stumps from an ancient lost era. At the far north gated end of the reserve is Buyé Beach, you’ll find a row of small beach houses that lead straight to Buyé Beach.
